Double Bill of Delight: Mrs H & Singalong Band/Mary Ward Centre Players.

Last Thursday (4th March), Millman Street Resource Centre members were treated to a double bill of live entertainment.  In the morning, Mrs H and the Sing-a-long band once again performed at the Centre for the benefit of our members….

…and in the afternoon, members attended a concert by the Mary Ward Centre Players, at the latter’s Centre in Queen Square.  At both events, our members sang along and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

In the afternoon concert, the familiar songs of Lionel Bart, from the musical Oliver! were performed by the Mary Ward Centre Players.  “It was brilliant,” said Ivy.  We all really enjoyed it.  It was a nice atmosphere.”

Among the songs performed were the titular Oliver! and Pick A Pocket Or Two.  David said “The lady [Tessa] was really good; she dressed up as the Artful Dodger.”  Another player, Bob, was dressed as Fagin.

“Most people enjoyed it,” Ivy said.  “I told ’em how lovely it was afterwards.”

Helena agreed.  “It was alright,” she said.  “We had a bit of a sing-a-long.  I enjoyed it very much.  It was a lovely show; I always enjoy it.  My mum used to like all these sort of shows, too.”

Ivy looks forward to the next performance at the Mary ward Centre, which is on Thursday, 24th March at 3pm (Tickets cost £3).  “I can’t wait to go again,” she said.  “I really like it down there!”

HCA would like to thank both sets of performers for making it a very entertaining day for Millman street Centre members.
