Each Friday between 11am and 12 noon at Millman Street Community Centre, HCA members experience a new workshop which – according to the HCA timetable – has the unweildy title of Self-Expression In A Theatre Style With Victoria (SEIATSWV for short or, at least, a bit shorter). Details of the workshops are a tad vague at this early stage, and quotes were scarce. However, your HCA reporter managed to glean the following:
Ivy said, “She’s learning us to do all sorts of things. She was singing Lily Marlene, Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree and The Lady In Blue Velvet.”
Some say Victoria played a ukelele, others dispute this. If so, it didn’t show up in the photos. But apparently there was a bit of a sing-a-long. “She’s really good,” Ivy said of Victoria. “We have a laugh with her. She’s going to put on a show [at some point]. She’s down to earth; plays a bit of piano.”
Victoria’s SEIATSWV workshops are said to feature HCA members sat around in a circle, with her telling them funny stories. Sadly, no one could recall an example, so it is difficult to judge the hilarity or otherwise of said tales. On the plus side, several photos were taken (see slideshow below).
