In the latest of HCA’s Seaside Special days out, MIllman Street Community Centre members will journey to Southend-on-Sea, Essex on Thursday, 23rd August.
The Millman Street mob visited the town in 2016, on a blustery day [see photo], so it is hoped that the weather will be more clement this year. And that the locals have forgiven us.
And what locals: Southend is the hometown of, amongst others, comedians Phill Jupitus and Russell Kane, impressionist Phil Cornwell, actress Helen Mirren, TV presenter Simon Schama, and several bands – Eddie and The Hot Rods, The Horrors and Procol Harum.
The town is also home to League One Side Southend United, AKA The Shrimpers, and HM Revenue and Customs are one of the largest employers in Southend. Oh, and it’s famous for its mile-long pier…
There are still a couple of seats available on the coach if you fancy a bit of fresh air. Tickets are £12, and you should let us know before 5pm next Tuesday (21st August).
