Our friends at 1A Arts will be running Pots and Poems, a free fortnightly pottery and creative writing workshop for people aged 60 and over. Sessions start on Thursday, 1st November 2018 and will run fortnightly on Thursday afternoons during term time.
London EC1R 4SR
Workshops will follow a theme each term, and will bring people together to create their own poetry and creative writing, as well as build new skills in pottery and ceramics.
Whether you’re an experienced potter or poet, or completely new to either, these sessions will allow you to build your skills at your own pace.
Sessions will be split into two, with one half focusing on pottery and the other on creative writing. There will be a sharing of work at the end of each term.
Unfortunately, the new workshop has inspired (if that’s the right word) the following outpouring from HCA’s would-be Wordsworth:
In Praise of Ye Pottery
by Notes Smudger
“I wander’d lonely as a ceramic
O’er Holborn’s flinty thoroughfares
To 1A Arts, whence I did findeth
Ne’er an appreciative word for mine own verse:
‘Twas deemed frightful by ye poets therein
Who did chucketh broken pottery at me
Mayhap in hope t’would somehow reassemble into recognisable earthenware
Once it had belaboured my sensitive, poetic phizzog…”
Ahem. Holborn Community Association is confident that its members can produce far better writing than the pretentious piffle typical of its frustrated (and, indeed, frustrating) Words-worthless hack.
Workshops are free and are kindly supported by Ageing Better in Camden and the Big Lottery Fund.
To book, please complete the form on the main Holborn Community Association website: http://www.holborncommunity.co.uk
